The Master Cleanse: Day 4

Have you ever heard of the master cleanse?? I've tried it a couple of times in the past and have failed horribly. Basically what it is, for those of you who have no clue, is you fast for ten days while drinking a ton of water, a lemonade drink, and laxative tea. Mmm. The lemonade is made with filtered water, grade B maple syrup, fresh squeezed lemons, and cyan pepper. Today is my fourth day of the ten. I am hangry. Tonight I have a staff Xmas dinner at this really delicious restaraunt and i can't eat any of it. Today has definitely been the most difficult because I've been experiencing a lot more hunger pangs + other stomach pangs + farting "poop" (it can hardly be called poop) + I pee every five minutes. Doesn't it make you want to try it?? At the end of the cleanse you're supposed to "drop a rope" where all the nasty toxins that have been built up in the intestines come flooding out! Can't wait! I'll let you know how it goes

Party Like A Barack Star!

okay okay i know there are many different emotions involved with the election. People either love or hate the outcome. Everywhere I turn I hear that Obama is the antichrist, Obama hates Christians, Obama swears on the Koran, Obama's Marxist, Obama hates babies. Families are replenishing their emergency stores, investing in the latest weaponry, sending their children to foreign, albiet "democtratic" lands. Well the clear majority voted for the guy so what are you going to do? Those who did vote for him swear that he will fix everything; stickers are mass produced donning the phrase "What Would Obama Do?" Serious debates are, at this very moment, being held over who's better: JC or Obama. Crazy right? Junior highers are just as polarized on the issue if not more so. The night Barack was elected I received a load of texts from some of them, absolutely ecstatic that he was victorious. I wondered what they were so excited about. I mean, do they even really know anything about the guy? Of course he is pretty cool and listens to Jay-Z and stuff so I guess I could understand. The next day I heard from students from the other camp, furious that the Nazi Socialists will be the next president, seriously worried for their futures. Never has a president been expected to wield such devastating (or salvific) power as the young man who will be inaugurated in January of 2009. What do I think? If he is truly the antichrist, it's about flippin time...

Pandora + What's New

I've been working on new music that is definitely unlike most of my other stuff but I'm really excited about how it sounds so far. Hopefully it will be done relatively soon and I can post it here. Actually I don't even have lyrics yet but will post them when they come along. have any lyric ideas?poems or whatnot? let me know.

Also, Pandora is amazing so you should check it out at the bottom of the page. You can create your own custom stations that are taylored to your fav bands and/or music preference. One great song followed by another with no commercial or dj interruption. Now that's my kind of radio station!

And They're Back

An event of epic proportion took place two days ago. This last Wednesday I took a trip back in time, literally, to Pomona to see one of my favorite bands from high school. weird. i'm old. the band's name is Far (a pioneer of emo, according to the OC Times) and ten years ago they broke up. However, under the guise of Hot Little Pony they reunited for a world tour consisting entirely of Pomona and Hollywood, Ca. and the UK. i was giddy with excitement and anticipation as the band took the stage, Jonah (singer) wore a plastered smile from ear to ear, the experience surreal. They did not disappoint. In the pic you can see Daniel and I'm next to him in the shadows i swear! You can also check out a clip from the show to the right: Far @ the Glasshouse ---------------->

Hot Little Pony

Tonight has been long awaited. I will be making the trek up to Pomona to the Glasshouse (a monument from older times) and will be partaking in the experience formerly known as Far. Far happens to be one of my favorite bands of all time who broke up in the late nineties. Tonight will be the first show they will play together since they broke up. If I'm lucky I'll have some stage diving, crowd surfing, sing-a-long screaming fun!!

Best Friend and Brother

Stay
A little longer
Before you make your way back home
And I'm left alone

Life
Had its way
Of stealing you away too soon
Left us lost without you

But I'll try
To survive
Without you
By my side

Autumn leaves
Lead to longer nights
The knife tears the heart
Hard times have come
Comfort comes for no one

Silence washes
Over bodies
Clocks they tick
But time stands still

But I'll try
To survive
Without you
By my side

J-Tree

So I've been thinking a lot about Joshua Tree because we're heading there next month (November 7th to be exact) I remember last year was my first trip with Straight Up as Dan's assistant and man, was it one for the record books! Campers yelling at us, anonymous urine soaked bathrooms, free salon quality haircuts in the middle of the night. Seriously though I can't wait for the rock climbing and crawling through pitch-black caves! Will you be there?

Today Has Been Ok

So I think that this thing is just about up and running, not that there's anyone who'll actually read it but whatever. For those of you Straight Up Junior High students who have tons of questions swirling around your mind about God or Jesus, Obama or McCain, or even just wondering what i do in my spare time...please feel free to ask those questions here. This is an open forum to ask and discuss and learn a thing or two about one another. (But it's still mainly for me to go on and on about random stuff)
