It gives and gives while we take and take
We take and take and take
With no thought of what that really means
Without thought of mistake
Without a greater sense of purpose or destiny
What shall I consume today? we ask
How shall I satisfy my waning inclinations? we wonder
We yell and scream and throw our little temper tantrums
Wondering why no one is listening
Why nobody cares
Forgetting that they are hopelessly consumed by their own desires
To be concerned with our complaints
Meanwhile the rocks cry out with anticipation
And the world swells with the weight of our pain
